Later, when Xia Hou Xue encounters danger, Yuchi Longyan pledges to protect her for three lifetimes to honor Liu Ying's wishes. Though he silently stands by Liu Ying in her reincarnations, it takes until her fourth life as Gu Qing Yan for her to discover his presence.
